Pop and his siblings and the really bright sun

We spend a lot of time with that "den" door open at Pop's house. Pop goes in and out it all day long. He goes out to sit on the porch and walk around his land, checking things out. He checks the mail. He is busy, busy, busy. I cannot count the number of times I have seen him in the exact location he was in when I snapped the picture. But for some reason, on Monday the sun was so superbright that I had to see if I could capture its brightness. I'm not sure if it worked, but I tried.

Though you can't see it at all, the sky was just so beautiful just then. I guess if I wanna capture all God's natural beauty, I'll have to buy a better camera than a cell-phone camera, yeah? I'm not quite ready for that yet, so I hope y'all can use your imagination to see the blues and greys that were present at that exact moment. and I hope you enjoy the picture of a tiny slice of country life: pick-up and tractor parked side by side in the garage. That isn't something ya see in the city. :)

On the way home from evening worship, I took this picture of my eye (see I WAS focusing on the road!) I couldn't think of anything else to take at the house. I feel like I've taken pictures of nearly everything around there--maybe one more than once.
We'd been late getting out of worship because Aaron was baptized. YAY! He is a sweet kid. Anyway, so I had to leave right at 5:10 cos I have to be back at the house by 5:30 on Sunday evenings so that Dale could leave and go to evening worship in Buna.
So, I figured that I should take a picture of something in the car. Hence, my eye! Voila!
Hopefully, I have a chance to take some pictures outside tomorrow.

I find it beyond awesomeness that Buna--this tiny town of 2,000 people--remembers to lower the flag to half-staff on this day. On my way to--and in--the big town of Beaumont I saw plenty of business which had flags flying way up there at the top of the flag pole, totally forgetting what this day means to modern day Americans.

Buna kinda rocks, ya know?

Pop and his grandson


His second youngest grandson, newly graduated from law school, came to visit him Friday. He, along with his mother, took Pop out to lunch and then they went to the Big Thicket Visitor's Center (?) and looked at all the exhibits about animals and history and all that jazz. What followed was dessert and some talk time at home.
They had a blast it seemed! So much fun that Pop went to bed at 7:30 and stayed asleep for 12 hours! Wow!

Pop's Pride


Pop doesn't really have very lucid moments all that often, but he has had two regarding this picture. He loves to pick it up and look at it. He almost always comments, too. "This is a really great picture" or "Aren't these kids cute?"
Though he might not always remember their names or who they are to him, he looks at this picture with affection in his eyes.

P.S. This is a 25-year-old picture of his grandchildren.

08SEP10: End of Day

When I arrived home on Wednesday after evening worship, I was just soooo super tired that I had forgotten I'd spent 20 minutes in the garden--slowly and surreptitiously--stalking a butterfly. I thought to myself "Man, no pic for today! I'd better take something. There! My shoes and socks look kinda cool lying next to the couch. so there ya go. Wednesday's picture. ha!
